Slovenia, located in Southern Europe on the Adriatic Sea, shares borders with Italy, Austria, Hungary, and Croatia. Its capital is Ljubljana. The country ranks among the most prosperous in Central and Eastern Europe. Predominantly mountainous, Slovenia’s highest peak is Mount Triglav (2,864 m). Highlights include the stunning Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj, as well as remarkable karst caves such as Postojna Cave. The climate is temperate; spring and summer are the best times to visit, when conditions are especially pleasant. The official language is Slovene.
